“Life’s not all lovely thorns and singing vultures, you know.” ― Morticia Addams

Starting off this challenge with Moritica Addams may seem like a strange choice to some because she can be seen as dark and intimidating. But I honestly love that about her. She is, in fact elegant, aloof, poised, deadpan, well-mannered, and protective.

While one of the reasons I wanted to include Morticia in my portrait challenge is because her ethereal gothic appearance lends itself well to my typical style, I also chose her because I love that her character encourages the abnormal. Not only encourages but teaches that it's perfectly acceptable to be different.

“Normal is an illusion. What is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly.” ― Morticia Addams

Do you think I captured her essence well? Let me know in the comments below.

“This morning when I woke up, and the sky was all dark and cloudy, I knew right then and there that this was going to be a lovely day.” ― Morticia Addams
