While you try to talk yourself out of buying this beautiful watercolor painting of a fruit bat skull, I thought you may enjoy some interesting facts about these adorable little creatures.
Many people think all bats are blind, but fruit bats are not. In fact, scientists think they have the best vision of all bat species. They use their eyesight to help them pick out fruit however, they rely most heavily on their sense of smell. They can even smell ripe fruit more than three miles away! Fruit bats have sharp teeth that help to chew through the skin of the fruits they consume, and they have really long tongues. Their tongues unroll when eating but are tucked away internally around the ribcage. Isn’t that interesting?
